‘In my view they are not replicas – I prefer the term “re-creations”. It’s such a relatively new phenomenon that only time will tell how they are treated. However exacting the standards (and they are superb cars) they are new cars so can’t truly be classics, at least not for another 20 years or so!

‘I believe that they will always be treated differently to the originals and early cars’ values will reflect this. Take the recent sale of the Australian Lightweight at £6 million – it makes the new cars look like great value!’
