‘I bought my 1991 VW Scirocco in 2007 as my daily driver for a 40-mile commute for just £700. The 1.8 injected engine easily achieves 40mpg plus on a run and it’s been to Europe several times. I had to sell it in early 2009, but I bought it back in 2010 and have since resprayed it and incorporated a few upgrades. It will be pressed into service this April as my wedding car and I often commute into work in it during summer. I’ve become very involved with the owner’s club (The Scirocco Register); I run the membership and help organise events. The club is full of enthusiastic owners and I have made some fantastic friends. I’ll never part with this car now, because it’s fun, reliable and very practical.’
