1965 SINGER VOGUE ESTATE
Trade whispers last year about Rootes Group cars being undervalued were dealt a serious blow by ACA’s 1965 Singer Vogue estate. Many in the pre-sale period – who undoubtedly hadn’t seen the car – reckoned that the £8000-10,000 estimate was optimistic to say the least. How wrong they were.
Owned by the vendor (who himself bought the car from its first owner) since 2001, the car’s restoration was thorough, but not in a glitzy, over-the-top way. Rather, it showed the car off as it would have looked when it left the factory. The bodywork was lovely, with first-class panel fit and beautiful paint, and the elegant interior was a sight to behold.
Offered late in the day, punters clearly weren’t deterred by the extended wait, and for one determined punter that patience was rewarded, although at a price well beyond the upper estimate.
