WHAT ABOUT THE OTHERS?

2003 MG ZR

THE STORY SO FAR Miles driven 46 Total mileage 77,782 What's gone wrong Squeaky fan belt, delay on headlight activation

The MG has continued to perform well although it doesn’t seem to like the wet weather in comparison to our other £500 challenge cars. Not only is it lacking in grip but the fan belt makes a lovely screeching noise, usually in damp conditions. I’ve also noticed when turning on the headlights there is a five second delay before they actually work. But they do work and it is a £500 car, so I can’t expect perfection all the time!

2000 FORD PUMA

THE STORY SO FAR Miles driven 651 Total mileage 55,302 What's gone wrong The dicky central locking has returned

For a moment I thought our plucky Puma was going to leave Team CCW stranded in a multi-storey car park in deepest Bristol. En-route to the Great Western classic show (Out and About, p20) I decided to check out something with rather better build quality than our Ford – the SS Great Britain. X147 OBV obviously took offence and decided to send its central locking on strike – I thought we’d solved that one ages ago.
