Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - The Best 1976 Buys - DAVID SIMISTER EDITOR

The pre-HE cars we’re talking about here are notoriously thirsty, but at least the £235 saving you’ll make if you pick up one of the earlier models will help to offset the cost of the V12’s fuel bills.

We’d definitely recommend one, because there’s nothing quite like firing up that beautifully smooth 5.3-litre engine, letting the initial roar settle into a muted purr and allowing it to take the strain as you watch the countryside whisk past the end of that long and beautifully sculpted bonnet in an endless blur.

We highlighted it as a brilliant tax-exempt buy in CCW a year ago, but with there being more 1976 cars around than ones from the model’s launch year, we reckon it’s well worth highlighting again. Find the wrong one and it can be a real headache, but source one that’s been looked after and it’s a proper British GT quite unlike any other. You won’t regret it.
