CAR OF 1989 Ford Fiesta Mkiii

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling -

The arrival of the MkIII was good news for children being ferried to school in early 1990s’ Britain – not only was the new Fiesta’s platform more accommodating than its two predecessors, but for the first time it was now available with rear doors, so there was no more need for awkwardly clambering in and out of the back. And it was was good news for press-on drivers too; while the initial XR2i may not have had the immediacy of its predecessors, the RS Turbo that came along in 1990 was a serious contender in the hot hatch market – and they still have a loyal following today, with values up to around the £8000 mark. CCW’s £500 Ford Puma also owes plenty to the MkIII’s underpinnings.
