1952 AUSTIN A40 SPORTS

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling -

Almost forgotten because of its low production numbers (around 4000) and short run, the A40 Sports was a charming tourer with bodywork, as with the earliest Volvo P1800s, built by Jensen. A relatively high price secured its exclusivity and today examples are few and far between, and this example has enjoyed consistent maintenance rather than restoration. Brightwells notes the car has had new sills and localised repairs and the engine given a full rebuild in the 1990s, while a new wiring loom takes care of the electrics. In clearly used condition, this A40 is a truly lovely offering, mixing reliability with rarity and relatively low running costs.
