Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - BUYING & SELLING -

There’s always an interest in the colourful Swiss Post-liveried model Volkswagen Beetles, and the Tekno example in Lacy Scott & Knight’s 18 February auction was clearly no exception. The No.819 ‘PTT’ yellow and blackbodied saloon with chrome hubs and white walled tyres, cream interior and in the original card box, sold for a hammer price of £360 above estimates of £200-300. The attraction of James Bond-related Aston Martin DB5 models continues to draw big prices and the Corgi Toys No.270 model (with larger body than the 261) in the original plastic vac-formed bubble packaging found a buyer at just under top estimate at £420. A German OROBR tinplate and clockwork limousine reached top estimate at £400, while the cute Victory Industries 1:18 scale Austin Cambridge featured in our 8 February issue, came in mid-estimate at £75. www.lskauctioncen
