The Cav­a­lier and Chevette Club will be work­ing on three cars over the week­end of the Prac­ti­cal Clas­sics Clas­sic Car and Restora­tion Show at the NEC, Birm­ing­ham, 31 March-2 April.

Alan Wells plans to com­plete the restora­tion of his Opel Manta Coupé, which com­peted in the 1991 Lom­bard Rally. He’s hop­ing CCW readers may be able to help him find more pic­tures and in­for­ma­tion about the car in the rally.

A Cav­a­lier MkI 1.6 GL sa­loon bought new by its pre­vi­ous owner in 1978 will also be get­ting at­ten­tion at the show. It’s to­tally orig­i­nal and is used ev­ery day by its cur­rent owner, Richard Watt.

The third car to be worked on un­der the NEC lights is Phil Scaife’s recently bought Cav­a­lier Mk3 1.7 TD LS hatch­back, fit­ted with the Isuzu tur­bod­iesel en­gine. Also in daily use, this Cav is hav­ing its in­te­rior taken out so that bet­ter sound­proof­ing can be in­stalled.
