Museum needs you
A proposed new museum celebrating racing driver Jim Clark has been given the green light – but it needs your help.
Scottish Borders Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund have committed funding to the major project. However, £300,000 is needed to deliver the build phase and Sir Jackie Stewart, a patron of the Jim Clark Trust, has asked motor sport enthusiasts to back the £300,000 crowdfunding campaign. So far more than £39,000 has been raised by motor sport fans for the new museum.
He says: ‘Jim Clark was not only the best racing driver I ever raced against. He was also a great friend and a wonderful ambassador for motor sport. It is only right that we honour his success and achievements. I’m delighted the project has reached this crucial stage with the support of the Trust. The foundations of this project are heritage, education and inspiration bought to life through the story of Jimmy’s incredible career. So I hope enthusiasts will join me in wishing the fundraising campaign every success.’
It’s hoped the development could be completed by 2018 – the 50th anniversary of Clark’s death at Hockenheim.
