£55,000 party bus
A classic car collector’s latest completed project has a fully fitted bar, 25 seats and a 14ft opening sunroof – and you can hire it, complete with a picket fenced garden.
Peter Sonneveld spent about £55,000 buying and converting his 1965 AEC Routemaster bus.
‘I’ve always loved historic vehicles of all types and originally wanted to buy a bus to hire out for weddings,’ he says. ‘ Then I saw one that had been converted into a bar, and that was it.’
The bus now has a bar with 12 draught pumps and serves many other drinks including champagne, kept at the right temperature by twin coolers. There is also a sound system and seating area.
This Routemaster ran in London until the end of normal LT operations in 2005, having been a stalwart of the 38 route.
Peter emphasises: ‘Being a classic vehicle collector and enthusiast, I have taken every precaution to keep RML2355 as original as possible.’
