The life of Riley at HVA
Sprite special with fascinating history takes top price at Ledbury
Herefordshire Vintage Auctions’ first sale of the year lined up a small selection of cars alongside more than 800 automobilia lots, and a large crowd saw most lots away.
The auctioneer has developed a strong reputation among pre-war (and immediate post-war) car enthusiasts, and the selection offered reflected that, with a few later ‘wild cards’ thrown in too. A four-owner AC Royal two-seater that made £19,500 was a delight, as was a selection of Austin Sevens, including a charming 1931 RN saloon that sold for £8000. Top price of the day was £20,500 that was paid for a 1937 Riley Sprite special.
HVA’s next sale is on 8 June and early consignments include an Austin 20 fire engine, an Austin Seven special and early Land Rovers.
