1937 RILEY SPRITE SPECIAL

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling -

Originally a Kestrel saloon, HVA’s Riley special was bought by the vendor 30 years ago as a dilapidated saloon that was beyond economic restoration. As a result the owner decided to build a car resembling a competition Riley Sprite and while there was still more to do, much had been completed. The aluminium body was attractive and well constructed and the chassis, axle and wheels had been overhauled. A 12/4 engine in need of work was part of the package, as was a spare block, gearbox, lights and wiring loom. Even in unpainted, uncompleted form it was great looking, and it rightly surpassed its upper estimate.
