No HIDden dangers

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Week -

Having read the Calibra Mods & Cons article in CCW, 8 March, I always believed that aftermarket HID kits were illegal due to the heat they produce and consequently a MoT failure if fitted. Grahame King, Leicester HID bulbs are potentially unsafe – and illegal – if used as direct replacements for OE parts, as the housing isn’t designed to take them. But with the Calibra you buy a complete housing that’s designed from the outset as an HID unit. We certainly wouldn’t advocate fitting HID replacement bulbs in these articles – Richard Dredge.
