‘Popular when new and still excellent everyday transport’
The Austin Allegro is perhaps the greatest underdog of all time, so it’s no surprise that its replacement is generally almost as unloved. But with over 650,000 examples sold, the Maestro was popular when new and it still has an enthusiastic following because they make excellent everyday transport. With running costs measured in pennies rather than pounds it’s no wonder the Maestro has found its feet, and there are enough really good examples to go round.
