AVOID TATTY TRIM
Be wary of a scruffy cabin as new interior trim is available but far from cheap; some bits are shared with other Mercedes-Benz models though, and secondhand parts can be found online. Watch out for scuffed seat bolsters and damaged trim panels, while the leather and wood of post-1990 W463 models adds luxury but is costly to refurbish. Those later cars also added more in the way of electronics so check that everything is working, and look for signs of water leaks on models equipped with a sunroof. And the heating needs to work properly because replacing a failed blower motor is an expensive dashboard-out job.
