1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth
Every week, we give a market valuation based on your description and photos.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?
I found it advertised online in 2009 and bought it for £11,500 from a classic car dealership called Oakfields in Hampshire, which specialised in Sierra Cosworths. The first owner was King Hussein of Jordan – I have a copy of the logbook with his name in it. As a 1990 car it’s one of the earliest of the four-wheel drive Sapphire Cosworth models as that’s when they replaced the twowheel-drive cars and also got the nicer bonnet with a pair of air vents to aid cooling.
HOW MUCH HISTORY?
It has pretty much everything – not that there is much to see because it has done so little over the years. There are still just a genuine 28,000 miles on the clock. After King Hussein had it, the car passed to a company called Racing Green. They sold it to someone in Dorset and he was the only other owner before Oakfields sold it to me. All of this is on file along with all the previous servicing bills and old MoTs.
WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?
The car needs nothing doing to it and remains in immaculate condition. Since I bought it, I’ve had the cambelt and ABS module replaced, but other than that, it has needed nothing other than regular routine servicing. As you can probably tell by the low mileage, it only gets used very sparingly.
HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?
No, this is a completely standard car that has had no modifications made to it.
