HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?
I bought it for £2350 in 2014 after a six-month search for the right car. This one popped up on the internet with rare factory fit aircon and heated electric mirrors. Speaking to the seller, I learned that the paint is original and it’s never been welded. I’ve since replaced the driver’s and rear seat covers, the rear bumper, and had all four alloys refurbished. I’ve also gone right through the car replacing all belts, hoses, fluids, rubbers, the entire braking system and any cosmetic items that weren’t perfect. It has since won a show and shine award.
HOW MUCH HISTORY?
It was a millionaire’s company car brand new in 1990. He bought the car from the company in 1992 and kept it until 2013, though it was unused between 2005-2013, at which point he sold it to the guy I bought it from. I have all this in an email from the original owner – his business card was in the history folder, so I emailed him for the car’s story. I also have old MoTs, tax discs, service book, etc.
WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?
Retrimming the headlining – it has sagged in the past and I’m not happy with the previous repair to it. The other thing I’d like to do is spend some hours under the bonnet – it looks okay but I think it could be tidier.
HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?
It’s exactly as it left the factory back in 1990, apart from the period accessory Fischer C-box cassette holder in the centre console.
