Mini remastered: yours from £75k
David Brown Automotive (DBA) has launched a low volume ‘Mini Remastered’ based on the original British classic but featuring modern technology.
Handbuilt using traditional coachbuilding at the company’s new headquarters at Silverstone, Northamptonshire, Mini Remastered follows on from the Speedback GT launched by DBA in 2014, with each car taking around 1000 man hours to build. The cars are powered by a fully reconditioned 1275cc engine with power increased by up to 50 per cent more than the original unit.
Modern tech appliances such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Keyless-Go are included. Pricing has yet to be confirmed but expected to start at around £75,000. The cars were previewed in Behind the Bike Shed, Shoreditch, London on 6 April prior to the public launch at the Top Marques Monaco show on 20-23 April.
‘ The car has been subtly transformed and updated to retain the original’s DNA, yet includes key design details from Speedback GT. However, it’s been important to remain true to Alec Issigonis’ original concept, yet bring it into the 21st century,’ says company founder, David Brown.
