Hire company bucks Rolls-Royces and Bentley for something more rakish for that very special occasion

Awedding car hire company is helping people to celebrate the ‘Bond’ of marriage by renting out a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 — similar to the one driven by legendary screen secret agent James Bond.

The only known Aston of its type used in this way is privately owned, and is being offered through Devon Classic Wedding Cars.

‘This car, which is in Silver Birch, is every bit as great as you would imagine. We have had so much interest and are absolutely delighted to be able to add it to our list of vehicles for hire,’ explains spokesman Steve Mincher.

‘ We had a stand at a local wedding fair at Dartington Hall in Devon, with ‘Meryl’, my white Moggie Minor convertible on display outside.

“A chap came over for a chat and said he had a classic car and was interested in using it for local weddings. He handed me a picture of the Aston. I looked at it and then turned it over assuming the car he actually wanted me to use was on the back, but no, it was this magnificent car [in the picture].

‘It’s a pity I can’t put the car on my self-drive hire fleet, but I guess the insurance might be a bit steep!’

The cost of hiring the Aston depends on distance and use, but would normally be £450-£500 for the event.
