The Wigton Motor Club’s gathering is one of the biggest Drive-It Day events in the North of England, usually attracting upwards of 150 classic owners from both sides of the nearby border.

The meeting’s free-of-charge but this year’s event is raising funds for Cumbria-based children’s charities West House and Jigsaw, so it’s well worth making a donation when you pull in through the gates in your classic.

It’s held in the grounds of Dalemain, a Grade I-listed country house dating back to the 14th century, and there’s row after row of predominantly British classics taking up pride of space on the front lawn. We reckon there are few lovelier spots to stop on a Drive-It Day tour than here, where you can enjoy a well-deserved cuppa and look out over the Lakeland fells. Wonderful. www.wigtonmc.co.uk 11am-2pm
