Classic Car Weekly (UK)

LET’S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!

Drive-It Day’s nearly upon us – make sure your car gets in to CCW!

-

This year’s Drive-It Day is set to be the biggest ever – and we’d like you to play a part in it by sharing your classic car pictures with us.

To show our support for the nationwide event, we’re going to print the best pictures of your cars in next week’s issue, and we’re asking all of you to send in a picture of you enjoying your classic car this Sunday (23 April).

Launched in 2006, Drive-It Day was established to inspire owners to take their vehicles out of winter hibernation for a drive to celebrate the classic car movement as a whole. It is now held every year on the closest Sunday to 23 April to commemorate the anniversary of the 1000-mile Trial of 1900, organised by the Automobile Club, which ran from London to Edinburgh and back, taking in the nation’s major cities along the way.

More than 450 clubs and organisations are taking part in this year’s Drive-It Day, with more than a quarter of a million historic vehicles expected on the nation’s roads to mark the occasion. Bicester Heritage, Brooklands Museum and the Lakeland Motor Museum are among the venues hosting classic car meets to support the initiative.

CCW editor David Simister says: ‘Drive-It Day is our opportunity to show the great British public why we love classic cars, so I’d encourage you to get your pride and joy out this Sunday, get a quick picture with it and send it in in. It doesn’t matter whether you’re heading out on a club run, going to a show or just popping down to the shops with it – if you’re enjoying your classic car on Drive-It Day, then we’d like to hear about it.’

Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs’ Communications director Geoff Lancaster says: ‘As they do every year, our friends at

Classic Car Weekly are giving DriveIt Day a major publicity push. They’ll be out and about – as will we – with their cameras to capture as much of the action as possible but because this is a truly national event, we can’t be everywhere.

‘ We want to help CCW create the most comprehensive and diverse photo record ever of Drive-It Day. Send your pictures to them and have a great day!’
