1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow
Unusally this Shadow was a genuine white example rather than one of the usual white blow-over wedding numbers, and a £2500-3500 estimate ensured that it attracted plenty of attention among bidders. The bodywork was best described as fair to good – the rear arches showed the to-be-expected bubbling, but the doors hung well and the front wings were in good condition. The paint was lifting in places, but wasn’t that bad. The blue interior had lasted pretty well but the lacquer was lifting on the door cappings, which rather jarred visually. Coming with a history file packed with 22 years’ worth of old MoT test certificates and a smattering of invoices, it represented value par excellence.
