Renault Sport Spider

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Drive-it Day Special The 50 Greatest Drives - Murray Scullion

Massive fun, mid-mounted engine, scissor doors. No, it’s not a Lamborghini Countach or Diablo. It’s a Renault Sport Spider. It’s desperately unpractical – so much so that it doesn’t even have a roof. It’s a mechanical beast that was introduced in 1996, but at times feels straight out of 1966 – it doesn’t have power steering, traction control, or even a brake servo. Everything requires the strength of a prop-forward. These senses are all the more present because your backside is skimming along the ground. Fabulous fun.
