‘I’ve owned my 1972 MkIII for about seven years – it was my very first classic. I never forgot seeing one on my paper round when I was a lad. Mine came up for sale not far from where I live and turned out to be one of the early MkIIIs fitted with a 6.3-litre engine rather than the 7.2. It was running but the lower areas of bodywork were suffering, and while getting it roadworthy and MoT’d was reasonably cheap I knew more extensive work would be needed. I finally decided on a full body restoration in late 2011 but it took a whole four years before I got the car back! Even then, I had just two weeks to get it completely finished before embarking on a 400-mile tour with other Interceptor owners!
