Ford Zodiac MkI

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Drive-it Day Special The 50 Greatest Drives - James Sadlier

The original Zodiac captures the essence of British 1950s automotive glitz, looking forward to an optimistic future rather than recalling past austerity. Two-tone paint, whitewalls, gold-plating, lashings of chrome, even flamboyant red engine detailing... It really looks a million dollars. Or £851 2s 6d, as old money would have it.

But it’s also a car that drove very well for its era. It’s a lazy six-cylinder cruiser that handles more competently than its contemporaries thanks to front MacPherson struts. It has just as much substance as style.
