Renault Clio V6 255

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Drive-it Day Special The 50 Greatest Drives - Murray Scullion

The Clio V6 was born to hoon. It feels alive, and responds beautifully. The steering is light, but gives back plenty of feel and feedback – like a mini supercar. Its party piece, though, is the way it gets off the line.

Build the revs up to 4000rpm, dump the clutch, and the V6 fills the cabin with a bellowing war cry, as the car digs in and hurls itself towards the closest apex in six seconds. It has a real sense of occasion too – the heat build-up that emanates from the engine bay where the rear seats should be spark memories of a much older car.
