Check your MoT certificate online

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Week - www.check-mot.service.

Owners of Standards, Allards, Crossleys and other marques previously not listed with the DVLA can now check MoT certificates online. And just in time too; as the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is urging classic owners to check MoT details online after admitting that the paper versions are vulnerable to forgery. Following research conducted by Claims Management & Adjusting Ltd (CMA) the view of the DVSA is that the online database holds the authoritative record – and not the physical copy. The DVSA advises anyone with concerns over the validity of a paper certificate to check it on the the website. CMA managing director, Philip Swift, says: ‘Most buyers accept paper MoTs at face value, but 25 years of investigating cloned and clocked vehicles has taught us not to be so trusting.’
