All drivers should be re-tested
Reference the 26 April news story on testing the over-70s, this is a subject I have been interested in and have actively been seeking a change in the law. We all passed our tests some years ago and are not re-tested. I see this as very dangerous – after all, most of our cars have to pass the MoT every year.
I have badgered the Government to introduce a five-year test for ALL drivers regardless of age. It would make the roads safer and insurance premiums could drop to reflect this. But so far, the Government’s stance is that it won’t be popular with voters. A life is worth more than a vote, surely. David Hipperson, Dereham, Norfolk
