SHARE AND SHARE ALIKE
Because the van and pick-up are mechanically the same as the saloon, they share all of the same weaknesses. So don’t expect the engine to be oil-tight; the gearchange and timing chain oil seals are usually the main culprits, and while replacements can be fitted, don’t expect them to be effective. Oil pressure should be 40psi at 3000rpm, but make all of the usual checks for oil being burned. You can expect to get about 70,000 miles out of an A-series unit between rebuilds.
