Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Way We Were -

While the Autojumbles are big news for old car nuts, the annual Beaulieu Boatjumble is another long-running show; the 40th one took place earlier this year. This early 1980s shot shows Beaulieu’s Red Field, and there are a few surprises in the exhibitor parking area. We can see two Citroën DSs, including a Safari estate; their smooth hydropneumatic suspension must have felt like sailing across a mill-pond compared to the other vehicles here. We can also see a pair of Lancias, a Beta and a Coupé, rubbing shoulders. Practicality is a must when you’re lugging around nautical paraphernalia, so there are plenty of big vans, including a Leyland Sherpa Luton and Volkswagen Transporter in the foreground, both draped in boat hooks and life jackets. Several Bedford CFs, Ford Transits and Volkwagen Type 2s jostle for parking space with a trio of Volvos, plus Hillman Avenger and Ford Escort Mk III estates. We can just see a Cortina MkIV manoeuvring at close quarters to a Range Rover.
