Shelsley Hill Descent!
Shelsley Walsh’s hillclimb course will be competitively run downhill for the first time when it forms part of the Roger Albert Clark Rally.
The 2017 RAC Rally is set to get off to a spectacular start on 10 November courtesy of the two spectator stages at the hillclimb near Worcester. It’s believed to be the first time in the venue’s 112-year history that it has hosted a rally special stage.
The opening stage will run from the startline to the finish and the second will run back down the hill. Chicanes will be added to control speed on the descent. Cars will complete both stages in batches of up to 30 to ensure non-stop action.
RAC Rally manager, Colin Heppenstall, says: ‘We’re delighted to be starting the competitive action of the rally at this iconic venue.’
Mark Constanduros from Shelsley Walsh adds: ‘This is the first time we’ve held a competitive rally, so there is a lot to do, but we are really looking forward to having a different motor sport discipline taking place.’
