Lotus Elise

Chris bought his 2000 Elise Series 1 in 2009, with a few modifications already made to it. He says: ‘It came with a Hurricane induction kit plus an aftermarket exhaust, which are the first things most owners change. I found the exhaust too noisy, so I swapped it for a Raceline system which is less anti-social and much better made. By fitting Series 2 Bilstein dampers the ride/handling balance is transformed; there are lots of excellent used parts available from S2 owners upgrading their own cars. As the car is a weekend toy but with the very occasional track day thrown in, it’s pretty much perfect as it is. However, I might tweak the engine with fresh camshafts and some cylinder head work, but it’s so good as it is that I’m not sure it needs anything further.’
