WHAT TO LOOK FOR

IS THE PLASTIC FANTASTIC? Interior plastic trim can be fragile on early cars – Series 2s were better. A sagging cloth headlining is about £400 to sort (it was moulded on some models), while the bonding adhesive for the rear window and quarter glasses can deteriorate over time. Grotty wiring and failing relays are often responsible for most electrical niggles so it makes sense to check that everything works, as replacing failed electric motors may not be straightforward or cheap. Talk to the clubs for guidance on this.
