1952 MG YA saloon
It’s all too easy to forget that MG built saloons in the early 1950s. Overshadowed by its sporting two-seater lineup, cars like this YA can be overlooked, which is a pity. Here was a tempting YA saloon in lovely, but by no means concours, order. That was no demerit and rather the opposite – it was a car that had clearly been used and enjoyed, visiting Le Mans twice while along the way it had been properly looked after. The paint was more than presentable, the engine bay tidy and the interior smart, although both front seats showed signs of wear. Rather than detracting, that patina added to this little gem’s character, and the new owner did well.
