ADAM THOMPSON

‘Why just after 1991? It should be judged on the individual vehicle. We have a 2002 limited edition Corsa owned from new – low mileage and immaculate, possible future classic but under this scheme would be scrapped.’

OLLIE MCHUGH

‘Nice to see them respecting the clubs (that) may want to preserve cars worth saving. I don’t see any other marques considering this. A good move from Vauxhall.’

STUART WAVISH

‘Scrappage schemes are the enemy of the classic car enthusiast full stop!’

IAN BEECH:

‘Nice to see Vauxhall doing things to save classics.’

DANNY O’KEEFFE:

‘Actually I wrote to Vauxhall about this in my capacity as the owner of a classic car business. I attached photos of perfectly good classics lined up slowly rotting away. Sadly I was given a deeply sanitised ‘corporate’ reply, which was frankly disrespectful. I suspect that this scheme is an accountant or marketing chap’s idea.... certainly, not a true car enthusiast.’
