‘The Bug was designed first and foremost to be fun’

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling - chris hope, Features editor

With its bright tangerine paintwork, forward-folding canopy, and wedge shape, you can tell at a glance that the Bug was designed first and foremost to be fun – and that’s not changed in the five decades since it was launched. Performance may be modest, but it’s capable of reaching the national motorway speed limit and does drive rather nicely. Only around 2270 were built, so sourcing replacement parts today can be an issue, especially the canopy. All the more reason, then, to join the Bug Club, where like-minded enthusiasts can help keep your car in fine fettle.
