Move to sporting venue pulls in the punters – and some great runners

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling -

Historics’ one-off move to Ascot Racecourse might have taken real effort to stage, but come sale morning there were plenty of punters through the prestige sporting venue’s gates.

The sight of many catalogue carriers giving the extensive offering plenty of examination vindicated the Ascot decamp. Helping the cause was an imaginative display, with cars both inside and outside – in some cases similar makes were put together (Rolls-Royces and Bentleys) and in other cases a theme was adopted, which saw camper vans side-by-side.

There was a definite buzz about the whole event, and with more than 600 people through the gates on the sale’s two preview days the positive, upbeat air was something seldom seen, even in today’s buoyant market.

This was perhaps THE most interesting sale of the year so far, and for all the right reasons.

Historics’ next sale is on 8 July at its traditional Brooklands venue. ❚ 01753 639170 ❚ his
