I MODDED MINE

Ron has owned more than 20 E24 6-series models over the years and has carried out all sorts of upgrades in that time; he currently owns three examples. Ron says: ‘Among those cars is a 1989 635 CSi that I’ve upgraded for better performance, with a polished cylinder head, overbored throttle body and a chipped ECU. I bought the car as a project. It needed a lot of work, so along the way I also fitted lowered and stiffened suspension with Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers along with bigger brakes all round. Initially I fitted 18in wheels but the ride was too hard so the car now sits on metric rims, with a diameter of about 16¼in. One of my cars sits on 15in wheels – it rides rather better than it looks.’
