Porsche Club Great Britain celebrated the Porsche 928’s 40th anniversary with a 156-strong gathering of cars at Brooklands on 28 May, 136 of which took to the banking, led by 928 register secretary, David Hemmings. Other influential people in the model’s history who attended the event included racing driver Tony Dron, whose only victory in a 24-hour race was behind the wheel of a 928 S2.

Steve Castle, Brooklands’ head of track and air events, says: ‘It was incredible, and also a record number for any Porsche Club GB register event. We had the first 928, last 928, plus all the variations. People even came from as far as Holland and Germany. The atmosphere was brilliant, everyone had beaming smiles on their faces.

‘What a way to celebrate the history of the marque!’
