80-mile Sherpa for sale
A British Leyland Sherpa minibus with just 80 miles on the clock has been put up for sale.
First registered in Portugal, the 1981 Morris-badged Sherpa was retained for many years by a dealer after the original buyer was killed in a road accident,
The diesel-powered minibus was eventually snapped up by North Eastbased classic van fanatic and collector, Alan Jeynes.
‘I heard about the Sherpa being for sale through an enthusiast in Portugal and couldn’t resist it, he says.
‘I’ve had the van for a couple of years, but I have a couple of major restoration projects I need to fund now. I can’t use the Sherpa because it would increase the mileage – my thoughts are that this vehicle should go to a series collector or museum where the mileage will be kept as it is.’
‘ This vehicle is in incredible condition – the leaf springs on the back even still have their paper stickers. There is a small dent in the side door but that’s about it.’
Offers in the region of £9995 are invited for the left-hand-drive Sherpa. The vehicle runs well but has not been registered for road use.
The current owner reckons this Sherpa is too good to use.
