Dinky Toys £8.99

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Week -

There has always been something special about Dinky Toys that have gone from being childhood essentials to today’s collectable treasures. Even the boxes – either the yellow type with red and black text or the ones with the blue and white striped tops – are highly desirable in their own right, hinting at the charm and quality of the model that is to be found within.

Meccano Ltd introduced its diecast Modelled Miniatures in 1931 – the Dinky Toys name appearing three years later – and resumed their production following WW2. Before the introduction of Corgi Toys in the 1950s, Dinky Toys were top of most boys’ wants list – when the competition became established, the company had to include glazing for their vehicles at long last.

Enthusiast David Busfield presents a useful introduction to the world of Dinky Toys, but be warned, this £8.99 purchase could lead to considerable more expense! DB Author: David Busfield Publisher: Amberley (Amberley-books.com)
