La Régie’s airs and graces
I am piqued to write regarding the small article on the Renault 4L in Andrew Roberts’ The Way We Were, 31 May, 2017.
The R4L never had an air-cooled engine at any point during its production run – I believe it was considered during the design to counter the sales challenge posed by the Volkswagen Beetle and Citroën A Series, but Renault chose to use the existing 4CV engine.
No grease points, for sure, and much was made of this. I would be very jealous of this feature – my Humber Hawk Series IV has 21 grease nipples on the front suspension alone! John Mellor, Child Okeford, Dorset
