It’s not often that a film is worthy of a mention in this column because of one car, but A Clockwork Orange is one exception. Stanley Kubrick’s film based on the Anthony Burgess novel of the same name sees sick young gang leader, Alex (Malcom McDowell) jailed, and latterly brainwashed so he can be released. The ‘Durango 95’ car that features in one two-minute scene is actually an Adams Probe 16. Built in Bradford in 1969, it utilises a 1.8-litre B-Series engine, and it’s so low, that you have to climb into it via the sliding roof. It starred at Practical ClassicsÕ restoration show at the NEC in 2015 as well. Anyway, it’s not as though the film only featured that single car – look carefully, and you’ll spot a Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Transit MkI diving out of the way! Murray Scullion
