PREVIEW: Bonhams Good­wood Fes­ti­val of Speed Sale, Sus­sex, 30 June

There are some prime ex­am­ples of top qual­ity au­to­mo­bilia ap­pear­ing in the Bonhams sale at the Good­wood Fes­ti­val of Speed. One of the fine items to catch our eye was the Fol­lett Tro­phy pre­sented at the BRDC 500 Miles Race at Brook­lands, Sur­rey, in 1935 when An­thony Patrick ‘Gin­ger’ Hamilton and Roy Gib­son came fourth over­all in an Alfa Romeo Modello 8C 2.3-litre, hav­ing led Class D through­out the race and av­er­ag­ing 112.36mph. The 70cm high bronze tro­phy on a con­crete base rep­re­sent­ing the Brook­lands bank­ing is val­ued at £3500-4500. ■
