hun­dreds of driv­ers and more than 600 cars tack­led the new nürburgring clas­sic Richard Mille event on 17-18 June.

a wide-rang­ing se­lec­tion of metal took on the in­fa­mous ‘green hell’, in­clud­ing the ger­man tour­ing car clas­sics, a class that brought to­gether for­mer driv­ers from the ger­man DtM (the ger­man equiv­a­lent of the bri­tish tour­ing car cham­pi­onship), the his­tor­i­cal tour­ing car tro­phy and the aDac eifel race. the Mercedes­benz Mu­seum also took part in the event, sup­ply­ing the keys to its ssk, Rac­ing ss and type-s to Jochen Mass, klaus lud­wig and Roland asch – three ger­man driv­ers fa­mous in the eifel hills.

time slots were also sched­uled to al­low am­a­teur driv­ers to drive on the north loop. at 20.832 kilo­me­tres long, the track in­volves 176 turns, al­low­ing the spec­ta­tors who turned out for this first edi­tion of the event ev­ery op­por­tu­nity to en­joy the smells and sounds.

around 100 cars that raced be­tween 1927 and 1939 took part in a demon­stra­tion race on the grand Prix cir­cuit, with the fa­mous bent­ley 4 1⁄2 litres fac­ing-off once more against their arch-ri­vals, in­clud­ing the bu­gatti type 35b and Mercedes-benz Rennsport.
