PUTTING IN THE EFFORT
Brightwells worked hard to assemble some cracking bargains at its modern classics sale
Not a bad effort for Brightwells’ venture into selling later classics at a dedicated event – one year on, the Modern Classics auction still meets the requirements of those wanting to dip a toe into the movement’s growing sector.
Defining when a car is a modern classic or a ‘proper’ classic might be tricky, but for those wanting a Mini or big Jaguar saloon there was something to meet that demand. And Brightwells delivered for the more unusual palate, with a Subaru SVX (sold for £1100) and Nissan 300ZX in targa form offering slightly left-field driving. Unsurprisingly, BMWs and Mercedes-Benz models were out in force, making this a good sale for anyone seeking out Teutonic neoclassic ownership.
A good effort, then, and with soaring temperatures sending the mercury rising, Brightwells did well when punters could otherwise have been at home, sitting in the shade.
