Old Skool Fords Tour The Moor
Fast Ford fans aim to make hit new tour of Dartmoor’s spectacular scenery an annual outing
The craggy Dartmoor landscape was broken up by Ford Anglias, Escorts and Capris on this spectacular new two-day tour for classic Ford fans.
Hosted by Old Skool Ford – which primarily caters for UK-built, pre1980 models – the event’s entries included a a race-prepared 1960 Ford Anglia 105E, a 1973 Ford Escort MkI and a 1978 Ford Capri MkII. The weekend started with a friendly social barbecue and camping at River Dart Country Park on the Friday, followed by the tour of the moor on the Saturday and a show and shine event on the Sunday. Saturday’s tour was split into three stages encompassing a scenic circular route of 45 miles across Dartmoor. Stops along the route included the former Dartmoor Prison, the valleys of Lettaford and the picturesque town of Moretonhampstead and its classic museum.
Organiser Christopher Deacon says: ‘It’s the first tour of the moor for the club and we hope to make it an annual event. I could have stretched the tour further but I wanted the members to enjoy the weekend as it was the first time some of our members had met.’
