Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Week -

Geoff Charles surprised his uncle by unveiling his own Vauxhall Carlton GSi 3000 24v. As the owner of the car, Bob thought that after 17 years of being off the road that it would have been a write-off. However, Geoff has had the Carlton meticulously restored over the past two years.

Bob moved to Northern Ireland in 2000 and the Vauxhall Carlton stayed in the UK. It started first time after 15 years standing, but the arches have been welded, the bodywork rebuffed, and the engine rebuilt.

It was then shipped to a Northern Ireland dealer who was in on the act.

Charles says: ‘In 2008 my uncle retired due to a degenerative disorder of the spine that leaves him in constant pain. He is always cheerful, positive, and upbeat and although he finds general mobility difficult, his passion for cars and driving remains.

‘He has done so much for me over the years, helping me with the family business, and being a father figure and mentor to me. I wanted to repay him.’ Murray Scullion
