Ferrari turns 70 in style

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Out & About -

Goodwood, like many other events this year, celebrated 70 years of Ferrari’s very first car. To mark the anniversary, 70 historic Ferraris hit the Goodwood hillclimb in a special parade, led by the first car to wear a Ferrari badge, the 1947 125S.

Famous faces piloting these cars included the likes of Derek Bell, Jackie Stewart and Dario Franchitti, as well as Formula 1 and Le Mans 24 Hours stars, Marc Gené and Emanuele Pirro.

The crowds were treated to four-, six-, eight-, and twelve-cylinder cars in what many on social media described as an ‘eargasm.’

In addition, a throng of Ferraris past and present came together on the lawn of Goodwood House to create a unique moment, too, marked with large ‘70 years of Ferrari’ banners.

Goodwood’s ‘Style et Luxe’ concours d’elegance held a special Ferrari 250 display. Highlights of the section, which was named ‘Maranello’s Masterpieces’, included a 1953 250MM spider, a 1958 250 GT Berlinetta Tour de France, a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Coupé Speciale Pininfarina, and a Ferrari 250 GT Bertone Shark Nose.
